Frequently Asked Questions
What are ApparelMagic Custom AI Agents?
ApparelMagic Custom AI Agents are AI-powered assistants your team can create inside ApparelMagic for workflows that are specific to your business. They use your instructions, selected data domains, schedules, and permissions to monitor work, summarize findings, and support action.
How are Custom Agents different from built-in Agents?
Built-in Agents are preconfigured for common areas like Inventory, Sales, Finance, and Product Development. Custom Agents give your team more flexibility to define the agent’s instructions, jobs, schedules, permissions, and focus areas.
How do I create a Custom Agent inside ApparelMagic?
In ApparelMagic, go to Home > AI Agents, then click New Custom Agent. Enter an Agent Name, select the User Group that will define the agent’s access permissions, and create the agent.
Once the agent is created, you can add instructions, jobs, schedules, and notification settings.
What can Custom Agents do?
Custom Agents can run scheduled jobs, review data, summarize findings, draft follow-ups, send notifications, and support workflows based on the instructions and permissions you set.
What can I customize?
You can customize the agent’s standing instructions, job prompts, schedule, data domains, web search access, notification channels, and approval settings. Instructions and job prompts can be written in natural language, like directions to a team member.
Can Custom Agents run on a schedule?
Yes. Custom jobs can run hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, or on a custom cron schedule. You can also test jobs manually before enabling a schedule.
Can Custom Agents use web search?
Yes. Web search can be enabled for jobs that need outside context, such as market checks, vendor research, compliance monitoring, or other workflows where external information is useful.
How do Custom Agents handle permissions and data access?
A Custom Agent’s access is controlled by its assigned User Group. The agent can only query and act on data that the selected User Group has permission to access, so you can align each agent with the right scope of work.
Can Custom Agents take action automatically?
By default, agents require approval before actions like creating records, sending emails, or modifying data. Teams can configure auto-approve settings for selected tool groups, individual tools, or specific API actions when appropriate.
Can a Custom Agent receive emails?
Yes. Each Custom Agent gets a dedicated email address. Messages sent to that address are processed by the agent and appear as conversations in the Inbox, which can support vendor, customer, or internal workflows.
Where do Custom Agent notifications appear?
Notifications can be configured for Slack, email, and in-app ApparelMagic alerts. Each job can have its own notification preferences based on the team, workflow, or stakeholder group that needs to see the results.
