FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is ApparelMagic MCP?

ApparelMagic MCP connects approved external systems, data sources, and tools to your ApparelMagic data through the Model Context Protocol.

You can search and filter records, analyze business data, compare performance across periods, search ApparelMagic documentation, run reports, and complete supported record updates. What the AI can do depends on the user permissions and access level assigned to the connection.

Traditional integrations are commonly built around predetermined record synchronization or workflow rules. MCP is designed for AI-driven access to external resources and tools, allowing an AI application to discover and use supported capabilities based on the task being performed. MCP servers can expose data resources as well as callable tools.

ApparelMagic MCP can connect with supported AI clients such as Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, and Claude Code. It can also integrate with approved commerce, CRM, marketing, fulfillment, logistics, finance, accounting, document-management, knowledge, and custom business platforms.

Connection availability depends on whether the platform supports a compatible, approved MCP server.

Create an MCP token in the MCP tab under AI Settings, assign it to an ApparelMagic user, choose Read Only or Full Access, and add the connection details to your AI tool. Restart the tool and test the connection with a question about your data.

Every MCP token is assigned to a specific ApparelMagic user and follows that user’s existing permissions. You can also choose the access level, set an expiration date, revoke tokens, and limit each connection to the data that user is allowed to access.

Not necessarily. MCP can give ApparelMagic controlled access to relevant external information when it is needed without requiring every source record to be permanently copied into ApparelMagic. The exact behavior depends on the connected platform and implementation.

Under this proposed model, designated AI Agents could consider approved external information when performing scheduled jobs, reviewing performance, identifying risks, or preparing recommendations.

No. Existing integrations can continue managing established data synchronization and operational workflows. MCP can complement them by providing ApparelMagic’s AI layer with more flexible, task-specific access to external context and tools.

Compatibility should be evaluated and approved individually. Authentication, security, tool definitions, data structures, and available capabilities can vary between MCP servers.

Select the external systems you want to connect, confirm that compatible MCP servers are available, authorize each source, configure access permissions, and determine which ApparelMagic AI experiences may use the connection.
